60 seconds · the timer starts on your first digit · no backspace, keep moving
Data-entry job listings quote KPH — keystrokes per hour — and the bands are well established: 8,000 KPH (~133 KPM) is the usual professional bar, 10,000+ is fast, and 12,000+ is elite. Proper 10-key technique mirrors touch typing: anchor your middle finger on the numpad's 5 (feel the bump), give each column a finger — index on 4-7-1, middle on 5-8-2, ring on 6-9-3, thumb on 0 — and never look down. On a laptop without a numpad the number row works here too, but expect roughly 30% lower scores; the numpad's tight cluster is the whole advantage.
